Florida Public Service Commission

Florida Public Service Commission (FPSC) is an independent regulatory agency serving the public of Florida by managing its public utilities such as telecommunications, electricity, natural gas, water and wastewater.

It was originally called the Florida Railroad Commission when it primarily oversaw the railroad industry.

Glades Coal Power Plant

Florida Public Service Commission voted unanimously to deny a request by Florida Power and Light to build a coal-fired power plant in Glades County, between Lake Okeechobee and Everglades National Park [http://www.sierraclub.org/grassroots/stories/00017.asp] .
