Robert D. Beck

Robert D. "Bob" Beck is the news director for Wyoming Public Radio, located in Laramie, Wyoming.

A native of Wheaton, Illinois, Beck majored in radio and television at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, Illinois and was the sports director at WSIU (FM). His news department has won numerous regional and national awards for reporting excellence. Beck gained notice for his coverage of the Yellowstone fires of 1988, welfare reform efforts and the Matthew Shepard murder. He has covered the state legislature longer than any broadcaster in the state.

Beck is the co-host of WPR's weekly program, "Open Spaces", and is the nightly host of Wyoming's version of "All Things Considered". He frequently does special programs for Wyoming Public Television.

Beck is also an instructor at the University of Wyoming. He is the state coordinator for the "Radio Television News Directors Association"; an advisor for Project Vote Smart; and a member of "Public Radio News Directors, Inc.".
