- Frank A. Gerbode
Frank A. Gerbode is the creator of a
psychotherapy known asTraumatic Incident Reduction (TIR). He is an Honors graduate ofStanford University and later pursued graduate studies in philosophy atCambridge University . He received his medical degree fromYale University , and completed a psychiatric residency atStanford University Medical Center in the early 1970s.Gerbode is the author of numerous papers and articles, which have been published in the "Journal of Neurochemistry", the "International Journal of Neuropharmacology", the "Journal of Rational Emotive and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy", "IRM Newsletter" and elsewhere. He teaches and lectures internationally, and is the author of "Beyond Psychology: An Introduction to Metapsychology" (ISBN 1-887927-00-X), published in 1988. This book provided the first published description of TIR.
From 1986 to 1995, Gerbode founded the Institute for Research in Metapsychology and the Center for Applied Metapsychology in Palo Alto, California. Today, this function is fulfilled by the Traumatic Incident Reduction Association [ [http://www.tir.org Traumatic Incident Reduction Association (TIRA) ] ] , a division of Applied Metapsychology International.
