Univox Hi-Flier was a guitar manufactured by Univox andUnicord from 1968-1978. It had a very similar appearance to theMosrite Ventures guitar, though was somewhat different (and much cheaper). It is the first guitar Univox manufactured and was produced as long as the company existed.Phases
The Hi-Flier went through many changes, and is known as having four phases.
Phase One
It was originally available in only orange sunburst and a very rare black which had a plastic logo. It came with a tortoise shell pickguard, two 3-way rocker switches, and
P-90 -stylesingle coil pickups.Phase Two
A new design emerged, bearing a different logo, different pickup switch, pots, and a different colored pickguard. It now came in suburst, black, and white.
Phase Three:
By 1976 the guitar now came with
humbucker s, as well as now coming in natural. It had slightly different pots. This is the most common type.Phase Four
The Hi-Flier now featured a stoptail bridge.
