Lancaster Farming is the leading farm newspaper for the Northeastern and Mid-Atlantic United States.

It has published weekly on Saturday since 1955. Lancaster County Weeklies is owned by Lancaster Newspapers, Inc., publisher of the morning Lancaster Intelligencer Journal, and afternoon Lancaster New Era newspapers.

Lancaster Farming provides news, market and commodity reports, and agribusiness information and include news about 4-H, FFA and fair events, and rural life. Lancaster Farming is printed in four sections, averaging about 200 pages per issue. Section A is devoted to breaking news, dairy and beef news, commodity market reports, and upcoming events. Section B is the family section which includes recipes, food and nutrition, antiques, and organizations such as 4-H, FFA and the Grange. Sections C and D have business news, new product information and updates, herd repots and other agribusiness information.

LeFever named editor

Dave Lefever was named editor of Lancaster Farming in mid-2006. Lefever has been a staff reporter for the newspaper for five years. He grew up on a 50-cow dairy farm in Lebanon County and managed an organic vegetable and sheep farm in Maryland for four years. He is a biologist with a degree from Goshen College and a teaching certificate from Millersville University, and was a stringer for the Hanover Evening Sun and York Sunday News. He and his wife, Katrina Oberholtzer, raise their toddler son, Jacob sheep and pasture chickens on a few acres in Pigeon Hills, west of York, Pennsylvania.
