Westland High School is a public high school located in Galloway, Ohio. It is one of 4 high schools in the South-Western City Schools District. SWCS is located in the southwestern portion of Franklin County in Columbus, Ohio. Westland High School was opened in 1970.

Background

In 1969 Pleasant View High School became a Middle School as Westland High School was opened. The School colors are forest green and white to reflect the to Middle School that feed into it (white from Norton MS and forest green from Pleasant View MS).

History

The school has appeared in the news for positive reasons in the recent past. In 2007, a student from the school competed in the National Poetry Out Loud Recitation Contest. The marching band competes in the Mid-States Band Association and at the Championships have been a finalist for the past five years. The Westland High School Marching Band competes against award winning bands such as Avon High School, Henry Clay High School, and Centerville Jazz Band.
