For the Yoruba goddess, see Oba (goddess).
Obba is a Roman Catholic Titular see in the former Roman province of Byzacena, northern Africa.
History
Situated on the highway from Carthage to Theveste (Tebessa), seven miles from Lares (Lorbeus) and sixteen miles from Althiburus (Henshir Medina), it is the modern Ebba.
Its history is largely unknown, although it is mentioned by Polybius (XIV, vi, under the name of Abba), and by Titus Livius (XXX, vii).
Three bishops are known, Paul, present at the Council of Carthage in 225, probably the Paul mentioned in the Martyrology for 19 January; Felicissimus, a Donatist, present at the conference at Carthage in 411; and Valerianus, at the Second Council of Constantinople in 553.
