Ennis National School

Ennis National School is a primary school in Ennis, County Clare, Ireland opened in 1897 ^{[http://www.ennisns.ie/schoolinfo.htm]} . It was a boys' school for 95 years before becoming co-educational in 1992 ^{[http://www.clarelibrary.ie/eolas/coclare/genealogy/ennis_ns/ennis_ns_register.htm]} . As of 2006 it has some 40 teachers.

The school's curriculum includes participating in "Ennis Information Age Schools", leading a poetry project ^{[http://www.sip.ie/terminalfour/SIPManager?descID=82]} . A team of pupils won the 2003 national Cadbury/NPC Challenge Quiz, out of 1,800 schools ^{[http://www.npc.ie/pr/Annualreport_2003.doc]} .

Development of a replacement school on a new site was finally authorised by the Government in November 2006 ^{[http://www.pressreleaseireland.com/2006/11/08/ennis-national-school-go-ahead-sanctioned-by-department-of-education/]} . This follows a long campaign by parents ^{[http://www.clarechampion.ie/clch/www/index.asp?magpage=1&issid=35&issdate=Friday%2C+18+March+2005&issarch=1&topcatid=100&catid=&id=3984]} .

In 2007, the school won the Green Flag Award. There was an award ceremony on 15th February.
