Relic Online

Relic Online is a new online gaming system that Relic/THQ will be using for its new games, as a replacement for its previous use of GameSpy Arcade (Dawn of War) and WON (Homeworld). It has been developed by Relic/THQ and Quazal, and is completely separate from any gamespy/WON systems. It likely will not be backported to older games, but should appear in Relic's upcoming games. Opposing Fronts will introduce new features to Relic Online, which will also be patched into the original game. These include arranged team automatches and an observer mode.

* The normal basic lobby/finding game systems
* Better automatched games
* Better NAT support
* Better ranking system
* Better friends lists
* Better integration with the game itself

Early Troubles

After the release of , users began to notice connection issues with Relic Online. Many users experienced lag, frequent updates and dozens of ghost games. Users who installed the 2.1 patch were forced to create an online account to continue to play, which inconvenienced and angered many players.
