The station was origially known as WGEE-FM, airing a country format, then top-40 before becoming WXTZ-FM, broadcasting a
beautiful music format. In the late 1980s, the station flipped to anadult contemporary format, "Magic 103.3" and was identified by thecall letters WMJC-FM. Just prior to a purchase byBroadcast Alchemy , a company that formed part of what is now Clear Channel, the station became WFXF-FM, playingClassic rock to compete withWFBQ , which became its sister station following the sale.The station began broadcasting as WRZX on
