Hansi Müller

Hansi Müller

Hans-Peter "Hansi" Müller (born 27 July 1957 in Stuttgart) is a former German footballer.

An elegant midfield playmaker with a sweet left foot, Hansi Müller owed his Latin looks to an Italian mother. He was the rising star of the Bundesliga with hometown side VfB Stuttgart when he went to the 1980 UEFA European Championship with West Germany aged 22. A brief taste of action at the 1978 FIFA World Cup had prepared him well, and he duly fulfilled his potential in Italy, starting all four games and decorating the team's play with his clever passing and subtle footwork. The tournament would prove to be Müller's international peak. He had a disappointing 1982 World Cup, and despite returning to Italy to play for FC Internazionale Milano, he made his 42nd and last appearance for West Germany the following year. There was an excellent Indian summer to his career in Austria with FC Tirol Innsbruck, and he is an official ambassador for the city at UEFA EURO 2008™

Müller played for VfB Stuttgart from 1975 to 1982, and later for Internazionale, Como and FC Swarovski.

He played for the German national football team, making 42 appearances with 5 goals between 1978 and 1982. He played in the 1978 and 1982 FIFA World Cups, and was in the championship squad for Euro 1980.

Müller was an ambassador for the 2006 FIFA World Cup in the city of Stuttgart.
