Self-interacting dark matter

Self-interacting dark matter

In astrophysics self-interacting dark matter is a hypothetical form of dark matter consisting of particles with strong self-interactions. This type of dark matter was postulated to resolve a number of conflicts between observations and simulations on the galactic scale and smaller.D. N. Spergel and P. J. Steinhardt, "Observational evidence for self-interacting cold dark matter", Phys. Rev. Lett. 84, 3760-3763 (2000) [http://arxiv.org/abs/astro-ph/9909386 preprint] .] B. D. Wandelt, R. Dave, G. R. S. Mitra, "Has DAMA detected self-interacting dark matter?", Phys. Rev. D 71, 121302 (2005) [http://arxiv.org/abs/astro-ph/0409121 preprint] .]
