Saul Montana

Saul Montana, born November 23, 1970 in Acapulco, GU, Mexico, is a heavyweight boxer. Nicknamed "La Cobra", Montana is a light heavyweight turned blown up heavyweight, having turned pro at supper middleweight, and is a popular journeyman fighter.

Montana turned pro in 1988 and fought mainly in Mexico prior to landing a shot at WBA Light Heavyweight Title holder Virgil Hill in 1993, a fight which Hill easily won via TKO. Montana moved to cruiserweight and lost to former Olympian Torsten May in 1995 and Uriah Grant in 1996. Montana then beat Kenny Keene and then Grant in a rematch, setting up a shot at Vassiliy Jirov for his IBF Cruiserweight Title. Montana lost via TKO and moved up to heavyweight in 2001. He had success initially at heavyweight, upsetting undefeated China Smith and winning a rematch. In 2004 he lost to Grigory Drozd, and in 2005 lost to Tye Fields and then Sinan Samil Sam in 2006.

Montana lost via a devastating first round knockout against David Tua on Saturday August 18, 2007 in Sandy, UT with a double left hook from Tua.
