St Keverne

St Keverne

St Keverne (Cornish: "Lannaghevran") is a village and civil parish in the Kerrier district of Cornwall, United Kingdom, on the Lizard Peninsula. The Cornish Rebellion of 1497 started there. The leader of the rebellion Michael An Gof (the "smith" in Cornish) was a blacksmith from St Keverne and is commemorated by a statue in the village. An Gof before his execution is recorded to have said that he should have "a name perpetual and a fame permanent and immortal". The tenor, Charles Incledon was also born in St Keverne.
