Cătălin Necula

Cătălin Necula, (born 12 December 1969), is a former Romanian football player, currently manager of Al-Hilal. He was the assistant manager but became manager after previous manager Cosmin Olăroiu got fired.

Career as football player

Necula, son of the famous Romanian goalkeeper Necula Răducanu, started his career at Sportul Studenţesc in 1988. After two years out on loan, he returned to Sportul Studenţesc in 1990 played for 30 Decembrie but left the team in 1993 to join U Cluj.

In 1995, he joined FC National Bucharest and then in 1998 he played for a short while for Hapoel Kfar Saba in Israel.

After he returned to Romania, he continued to play for FCM Reşiţa, Rocar Bucharest, FC Bihor Oradea, FC Argeş Piteşti and Gloria Bistriţa, before retiring from professional football in 2004.

Career as coach

In 2004, Necula returned to FC National Bucharest, this time as assistant coach and then in the autumn of 2005 he was for a short while the team's head coach. When Cosmin Olăroiu took over at Steaua in the winter of 2005 he asked Necula to join him as assistant manager.
