Spinning newspaper

Spinning newspaper

A spinning newspaper is frequently shown in television and movies and is used as a transition device. At the conclusion of a story arc an image of a rapidly spinning newspaper will be displayed. The newspaper will then stop spinning and reveal a headline that reflects what happened between to the story arcs in the story, preparing the audience for the scene that follows. Because the spinning newspaper is considered a cliché by many people, it has been lampooned in shows such as "The Simpsons" and "Robot Chicken" where spinning newspapers that have headlines about spinning newspapers have been shown.
