The Indian Brown Mongoose ("Herpestes fuscus") looks similar to the Short-tailed Mongoose from Southeast Asia and is sometimes even believed to be only a subspecies of this latter. The Indian Brown Mongoose is found in southwest India and Sri Lanka.
