Janice Cruz

Janice Cruz is the songwriter, lead singer and guitar player for Brooklyn-based indie rock trio Dark Room. She is a Berklee trained vocal coach (Adam Lazzara from Taking Back Sunday, Chantal Claret from Morningwood, Justin Pierre from Motion City Soundtrack, John Balicanta from Lola Ray, to name a few), the audio engineer for Nick Jr.'s Dora the Explorer and Go, Diego, Go! and is signed to New York based modeling agency Click.

Career

After studying music at Berklee College of Music in Boston, she made her move to New York city where she produced and engineered several artists such as New York hip hop artist Baba (Mind Music)on Velour recordings and other artists such as Heather Nova and Angie Stone. In 2001 Janice moved into the television market and became the engineer for Nick Jr.'s Dora the Explorer and then moved on with Nick Jr. to work on the Dora spin-off, Go, Diego, Go!

Her vocal coaching roster covers the lead singers of rock magazine Alternative Press' favorite bands--Adam Lazzara from Taking Back Sunday, Chantal Claret from Morningwood, Justin Pierre from Motion City Soundtrack, John Balicanta from Lola Ray, and many other bands.

At a young age Janice was featured in The Starship's video We Built This City

Her vocals are featured on Ceramic Dog's Party Intellectuals w/ Marc Ribot on the track Todo El Mundo Es Kitch.
