Marcel Bezençon (May 1, 1907, Orbe, Vaud - February 17, 1981, Lausanne) was until 1970 the director of the European Broadcasting Union. In 1955 he conceived the idea of the Eurovision Song Contest based on the famous Sanremo Festival. The Eurovision Song Contest remains the world's most popular music event.
