Thurlton is a small village in South Norfolk, and is situated some 14 miles (22 km) south-east of the city of Norwich, and 9 miles (15 km) west of the Suffolk coastal town of Lowestoft.

Thurlton is on the edge of the marshes to the south of the River Yare, and is bordered by Norton Subcourse to the west of the river. The area to the north, Low Thurlton, remains largely agricultural while the main village is largely a residential area. The population is about 800 and includes over 200 children and young people under the age of 19.

Education

Thurlton Primary School has about 100 pupils and has a new ‘classroom of the future’ extension, built with consideration of energy conservation and complete with a wind turbine.
