South Norfolk , and is situated some 14 miles (22 km) south-east of the city ofNorwich , and 9 miles (15 km) west of theSuffolk coastal town ofLowestoft .Thurlton is on the edge of the marshes to the south of the
River Yare , and is bordered byNorton Subcourse to the west of the river. The area to the north, Low Thurlton, remains largely agricultural while the main village is largely a residential area. The population is about 800 and includes over 200 children and young people under the age of 19.Education
