Weirdwolf converts from robot to wolf and back, while Monzo converts from human-like figure into the robot's head (hence the term "Headmaster"). The toy was released in 1987.According to Weirdwolf's

Weirdwolf only appeared in The Transformers TV series in the 3-part episode "The Rebirth", never spoke, however his partner Monzo did have a couple lines. Weirdwolf also appeared in the U.S.

In Japan, Weirdwolf was a central character in the 35-episode series "Transformers: Headmasters".

Weirdwolf originally appeared in the four issue "" comic, where he was binary bonded to his Headmaster partner Monzo.
"One of his most prominent actions during this period was to act as bait for a trap alongside the other Decepticon Headmasters. The plan worked, luring the Autobot Headmasters to the
Fortress of Despair , where the Decepticons captured Highbrow, planning to use him to perfect their own Headmaster process. The plan failed when Highbrow forcedScorponok to flee. (Transformers U.K. 130-131)"Weirdwolf participated in many battles against the Autobots before coming to Earth as part of Scorponok's group.
Weirdwolf would appear again in issue #49, "The Underbase Saga Part 3, Cold War!" In this story he was a member of the Decepticon forces under Scorponok's command. They were tricked into fighting the Decepticon forces under Ratbat's command by Starscream, who used the battle to steal Scorponok's ship and get to the Underbase.
"Issue #248 of the Marvel U.K. Transformers comic featured a story called "Fallen Star", where
Starscream began to doubt himself, despite being of the most powerful Transformers. Soundwave, Mindwipe and Weirdwolf feared Starscream would attack, but Starscream thought they were laughing at him behind his back. Leaving Starscream came across the AutobotsChainclaw , Cloudburst and Getaway, who were assigned by Optimus Prime to spy on him. Starscream soundly defeated all three Autobots and regained his self confidence."He later fought against
Unicron . After Bludgeon's ambush wiped out most of the Autobots, Weirdwolf was used to track down survivors along withFangry , locatingGrimlock 's group.He appeared later in the "" comic during the attack on Earth, noting it was "feeding time" as he transformed to wolf mode. Fun Publications Weirdwolf appeared among the Decepticons under the command ofBugbite who were sent to Earth by Bludgeon. In this story he appears to no longer be a Headmaster. Speaking in the singsong way described in his tech spec (which annoyedThundercracker no end) Weirdwolf seemed loyal to Bugbite. In the final battle against Megatron's troops, Weirdwolf proclaimed he was too nimble for the Decepticon leader to hit - until being cut in half by a fusion cannon shot in mid-rhyme.Toys

*BotCon Weirdwolf (2007):A redeco of Cybertron Snarl in the colors of Generation 1 Weirdwolf was part of an exclusive set at BotCon 2007. He came with BotCon Alpha Trion and was limited to 1400 in number. After being sold at BotCon a limited number of Alpha Trion and Weirdwolf sets were sold on the Transformers Collectors Club web site.
