Nicklas Grossman (born January 22, 1985 in Nacka) is a professional ice hockey defenceman, currently with the Dallas Stars of the National Hockey League.

Playing career

Grossman's professional career began in the Swedish Elite League during the 2003–04 season with Södertälje SK as a right wing. However, Grossman only notched two career points in the SEL, both assists, over two seasons. Even so, he was drafted by the Dallas Stars in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft in the second round with the 56th overall pick.

Grossman's professional debut in North America came on October 8, 2005, with Stars affililate the Iowa Stars. It was then that Grossman was converted to a regular defenceman, a move that led to his being named Iowa's Most Improved Player after his rookie season.

Grossman scored his first career NHL goal in a Western Conference Finals game against the Detroit Red Wings on a power play. In May 2008, he was given a new 2-year deal of about $2M to stay with the Dallas Stars.
