Electronic map

Electronic map

An electronic map is a map that is stored in the computers memory or some electronic media. Typically an electronic map is stored in some known format. These can be proprietary formats or open. Usually these maps are directly used by some computer programs and they will generate a view of the map. A special case of these views is the printed map.
