Departments

Academics

Carrollton High School (grades 9-12), a three-time Georgia School of Excellence award winner, is recognized across the state and in many national arenas as an innovative, "break the mold" learning environment, as recently noted in recognitions by Redbook Magazine and U.S. News & World Report.

Students experience hands-on educational opportunities that make what they learn relevant to their world. State-of-the-art vocational labs allow them to experience work in industries such as broadcasting, printing, engineering, research, and development. A collaboration with the nearby University of West Georgia allows high-achieving students the exclusive opportunity to attend college with the Advanced Academy of Georgia before they graduate.

Athletics

Carrollton's athletics program is a focal point of their school system; CHS athletes compete in the Georgia High School Association's Class 6AAA. Carrollton's athletic facilities have been recognized state-wide; Carrollton is one of only a handful of high schools in the nation to feature a "Jumbo-Tron" on their football scoreboard. It is the fifth-largest scoreboard in the state of Georgia, ranking just behind the Braves Stadium, Georgia Dome, University of Georgia, and Georgia Tech scoreboards, respectively. Carrollton has received numerous "AAA Field of the Year" awards for its baseball field, and commonly plays host to the GHSA's state Cross Country meet, as well as a "Last Chance" Invitational. Best known for their Football and Track & Field programs, Carrollton also excels in soccer, baseball, golf, tennis, swimming, cheerleading, basketball, and wrestling, having secured over fifty state championship titles in these sports.

In 2007, work began on a now completed state-of-the-art stadium which features artificial turf, an eight-lane track, and brand new infrastructure(pictured below). Construction on the planned Fine Arts complex is on hiatus due to insufficient funding, but is expected to be completed in a short while. Less noted at this time are plans for a new Gym/Fitness Center; the expected location of the site can is located behind the parking lot designated for visitors during sporting events.
