The band is in a forest and one by one die off, leaving Havok as the only remaining member of the band, chasing after a mysterious woman (Christina Petrovic), who reveals herself as evil, not enticing as Havok once believed. The woman presumably kills Havok by drowning him under thin ice. Suddenly she appears behind him, kisses him and they both drown under the thin ice.
The video was inspired by
Quentin Tarantino 's "Kill Bill " duology andTim Burton 's "Sleepy Hollow".cite web | title=www.mtv.com | work= MTV News Article | url=http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/1540705/20060912/index.jhtml?headlines=true]In mid-September 2006, the song appeared on the band's
MySpace page, along with promotional photos from the then-unreleased video. On
September 26 , AFI was in the "TRL" studio at 3:30 EST onMTV to debut the video. OnDecember 11 , the video retired at the #7 position on "TRL", spending only 40 days on the countdown, making it the first video to spend the least amount of time on the "TRL" countdown. On
November 15 ,2006 , a "long version" of the video was released onYahoo! . The video contains approximately one minute of additional footage inserted at the beginning of the video depicting the concluding portion of the preceding song on "Decemberunderground", "The Interview". This portion of the video shows the band members as well as the hooded woman, as well as the "water underground" mentioned in the closing lines of the song. During this new portion of the video, there are five quick flashes. The first four are frames from four short videos AFI made during their "5 Flowers" mystery that ended with people getting passes to "secret shows" in April 2006. The fifth frame is something new. It has the word ÞrírÞrírSjö over the cover of the 7" single of the single from "Sing the Sorrow ", "The Leaving Song Pt. 2 ". ÞrírÞrírSjö is Icelandic for "three three seven". Around midnight PST onNovember 17 2006 , the extended version of the video was removed from Yahoo! However, the long version can still be seen onYouTube . At a later, unknown date, the long version of the video was re-added to Yahoo! and can be seen listed there as [http://search.music.yahoo.com/search/?m=all&p=love+like+winter Love Like Winter (Long Version)] . Both versions can be purchased oniTunes .This song was also produced by
Ronan Harris ofVNV Nation who also produced a remix which was never released.Charts
