radio station serving theFargo-Moorhead area that airs acountry music format. They are licensed toArthur, North Dakota with studios inCasselton, North Dakota and serve Fargo-Moorhead as a rimshot signal, which prevents the station of having a large listener audience in the immediate Fargo-Moorhead area.History
KVMI originally signed on 96.7 FM in the 1992 with an
oldies format as "Kool 96.7". Kool 96.7 later changed its format to ahot talk format. In 2003, KVMI moved from its 5 kilowatt 96.7 signal to a new 25 kilowatt 103.9 frequency at a new transmitter site. The frequency move was to allow for a better signal in the Fargo area, though it is still a rimshot signal. The move to 103.9 also encountered a format change back to oldies as "Kool 103.9". Increasing competition from
KEGK "Eagle 106.9", which has a better signal in Fargo, forced KVMI to change its format toadult contemporary as "Star 103.9" in 2004.Programming
KVMI changed to a
country music format as "103.9 The Truck" in January 2006, along with relocating the studios from West Fargo toCasselton, North Dakota . The Truck also broadcasts high school athletics for rural Cass County, where they now serve rural Cass Country (where its signal is the best) as well as Fargo to a less of an extent.External links
