Adam Owen (born
5 September 1980 inWrexham ) is a Welsh football coach specialising in fitness and conditioning of players. He is currently the Head of Sports Science/Head Fitness Coach atScottish Premier League club Rangers. He has attained an M.Phil degree in Coaching Science having researched "The Physiological & Technical Demands of Small-Sided Training Games within Professional Football".As a player Owen started as a trainee at Wrexham where he also started coaching in their youth programme. After obtaining a Sports Science degree and a
UEFA 'A' license coaching diploma, Owen continued his playing career in theLeague of Wales with Newtown, Cefn Druids and Connahs Quay Nomads. During the 2001/2002 season he was selected to play for the Welsh University team in the British University Games.During the 2003/2004 season Owen moved to Celtic as a coach for the under-17 and under-19 teams. After a year at Parkhead he progressed to working with the reserve squad. While with Celtic, he had a short spell playing for
Scottish Third Division club East Stirlingshire.Owen then left his position at Celtic to undertake a first team role at Sheffield Wednesday to firstly work under
Paul Sturrock , and laterBrian Laws as fitness and rehabilitation coach.During the March of 2006/2007 he then moved back to Scotland to work for Rangers F.C with
Walter Smith ,Ally McCoist andKenny McDowall .References
