Most, of the lyrics are based off of personal experiences of Coleman, and/or Melvoin."Honeymoon Express", is about both reaching out to a lover who needs reassurance. Waterfall is about twists and turns both took in their maturing. "Stay" is told through Coleman's eyes and Melvoin's voice, as where Lisa's begs her lover to stay with her. "Chance to Grow" tells of twisted departures with the Revolution, however a sparked friendship. "Everything But You", is written about Prince, from both girl's points of view, once more reflecting on the Revolution days.
Revolutionary
Some tracks were co-written by Revolution member Bobby Z., and Wendy's twin, Extended Revolution member Susannah. Everything But You, has a guitar riff in the beginning and mid-song contributed by Melvoin, and a guitar solo contributed by Revolution lead, Prince.
