Canadian anarchistcrust punk andextreme metal band founded in Victoria,British Columbia in 2002.Because the band performs, records, and releases their material outside of the confines of the
mass media , Iskra are considered part of the anarchist underground punk musical tradition, which emerged in the late 1970s with bands likeCrass and Discharge. By blending elements ofcrust punk ,black metal ,powerviolence ,grindcore , andthrash metal , Iskra say they have created their own subgenre, "blackened crust." The band includes former members of the earlier anarchist punk band Black Kronstadt, who in later years also described their music as "blackened crust." [ [http://iskra.ws/interviews.html Iskra Interviews] .]Lyrically, Iskra follow in the
anarcho-punk tradition of Crass andConflict .
