ntupdate =Gavin David Strachan (born
23 December 1978 inAberdeen ) is a Scottish footballer, who plays in midfield for Notts County.Strachan began his football career at Leeds United moving with his father to Coventry City in 1995. In 1996 his father,
Gordon Strachan , took over the managerial reins at Coventry City. He was loaned out to Scottish club Dundee in 1998, making nine appearances and gaining experience first team football. Back at Coventry he never really broke into the team, playing in just sixteen league games, without scoring. When Gordon stepped down as manager in late 2001, it wasn't long before Gavin followed him out the door.In March 2003 Strachan joined Peterborough United, in a loan deal scheduled for the remainder of the season. He enjoyed more success here and managed to play regular first team football for three seasons, appearing in seventy-two matches and scoring six.During the 2005–06 season, Strachan missed a large amount of the season due to a fractured foot against Blackpool, despite this he managed to complete the match. After recovering from his injury, he was loaned out to Stockport County in his third season at Hartlepool.
By the 2006–07 season, Strachan had fallen out of favour with new Pools boss Danny Wilson after the signings of
Gary Liddle andWillie Boland . He consequently signed for Peterborough United initially on loan in January 2007, before making the move permanent just two days before the close of the January transfer window. [Cite news
