Chung Jae Young (born May 2 1977), better known by her stage name J, is a K-pop singer. A Korean-American, she was discovered in a beauty pageant for Koreans in Washington D.C [ [http://world.kbs.co.kr/english/entertainment/enter_artists_detail.htm?No=10168 Kbs World ] ] . That allowed her to travel to Korea to become a singer, with her first album Gold/Blue coming out in 1998. It wasn't until her second album In Love, though, that she achieved great success, with her single " _ko. 어제처럼" "(Like Yesterday)" going to #1 on the various Korean TV network charts. Although she has released many albums since, her second album and third albums have been her biggest hits. J released a digital single in 2006 and sang the duet "Perhaps Love", the theme song for "Princess Hours (Goong)", with new singer HowL; due to the show's popularity, the theme song became popular as well. She has also contributed to other soundtracks.

She released a special album, "In My Lifetime", in early January 2007. [ [http://music.cyworld.com/artist.asp?aid=2690&cf=Y 사이좋은 사람들 싸이월드 ] ] A digital single was released in the summer of 2007, led by ballad " _ko. 눈물로" ("Tears"), a duet with Lee Jung. The song was popular, and the pair initially promoted the song together. Eventually, J sang the song solo with a backing track for her promotional performances, although a special version was done with Fly to the Sky on KBS's music show, "Music Bank". As of November 2007, she has stopped promoting the single.

Her 6th album, "In Love Again", was released on November 8, 2007. The lead single, " _ko. 열흘만" ("Just Ten Days"), was a ballad song, like most of her other singles. She followed up with " _ko. 술과 순정" ("Alcohol and Purity"), a hip-hop flavored song. Although the album version had Eun Jin Won as the featured guest, live performances have featured Mi-ryo from Brown Eyed Girls, who also rapped J's spoken lines; this version was released digitally on January 28, 2008.
