Charles Strum

Charles Strum

Charles Strum was born in 1948 and is a graduate of Dickinson College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, where he was a history and political Science double-major. After working at Newsday, he joined The New York Times in 1979. He first oversaw the Public Lives column and held several roles on the Metro desk, including New Jersey bureau chief, and performed adjunct editing work on several other desks, including the Foreign desk, where he edited coverage of South Africa's first free elections. In 2001, he was named Obituaries Editor of the paper. In 2006, he was given the title of Associate Managing Editor.[1]
