- ISSeG
The ISSeG (Integrated Site Security for Grids) project complements Grid security by providing recommendations and training for each Grid site to improve their site security. The project is co-funded by the
European Commission as part of the FP6 programme.ite Security
Site Security focuses on improving the basic computer security of a site, via technical, administrative or educational measures. It differs from Grid security, which focuses on the challenges coming from the Grid environment, such as middleware, authentication, authorisation and operation across multiple domains.
Integrated Site Security
Integrated Site Security (ISS), the basis of the ISSeG project, advocates integrating technical, administrative and educational improvements, and developing them in a consistent and coordinated way. This integration ensures policies, rules, awareness and training all evolve in step with technological developments.
Integrated Site Security for Grids
The ISSeG project has developed a risk assessment questionnaire, recommendations and training material to help Grid sites improve their computer security. The project's website www.isseg.eu provides a downloadable questionnaire that can be completed by a site to receive a prioritized list of threats. The website can then be used to go from these identified threats to tailored site security recommendations.
Training materials and security checklists for system administrators, application developers, managers and general users are also available from the website, as well as useful resources such as posters, presentations and information sheets.
The recommendations and training materials will continue to grow throughout the lifetime of the project (February 2006 - March 2008). These resources will be enhanced via liaison with several projects including
EGEE , ICEAGE, BalticGrid, 6Diss and BELIEF.ISSeG Partners
The ISSeG consortium comprises three large scientific centres, all involved in major Grid projects, such as
EGEE . The project is led by the European Organization for Particle Physics (CERN ) in Switzerland, and includes Forschungszentrum Karlsruhe (FZK) in Germany, and the Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC ), formerly the Council for the Central Laboratory of the Research Councils (CCLRC ) based in the United Kingdom.ee also
