His twelve year club career was played at four Sydney clubs
New South Wales Rugby League premiership - theSt. George Dragons ,Canterbury Bulldogs , Eastern Suburbs Roosters andNorth Sydney Bears as well as withSt Helens RLFC in Britain.A local Arncliffe junior Jarvis was graded with the
St George Dragons in 1980 and played seven season with the club. He played in the forwards, appearing in the Dragons side that lost the 1985 Grand Final.Representative career
He debuted for the New South Wales Blues in State of Origin for game I of 1984 and played all three matches that year and in 1985 with two later appearances in 1987.
His sole Australian representative appearance was a Test match on the 1983 tour of New Zealand. He made himself unavailable for further tours due to work commitments.
While playing football, Jarvis also served in the
New South Wales Police Force and in 2008, rugby league's centennary year in Australia, he was named as a reserve in a NSW Police team of the century.He is a Scientologist.
