KTMS was founded by "Santa Barbara News-Press" publisher
Thomas More Storke (hence the station callsign). KTMS was located for many years at 1250AM (nowKZER ). Among the programs produced at the station include 1-2-5 Club, withdisc jockey Bob Ruth. It debuted in 1947 and aired for many years. The station moved to 990 AM, formerlyKTYD , in the late 1990s, with an all-sports format soon to follow. In the 1960s, 990 AM was called "KGUD" (K-Good Radio) and sported a country music format. It began simulcasting KTYD's AOR format in the early 1970s, but returned to a country format in the 1980s.References
