Dervish Mehmed Pasha

Dervish Mehmed Pasha is the name of four grand viziers of the Ottoman Empire. Their nickname, "dervish", attests to their pious character and background and connection with the Mevlevi order. These are:

  • Dervish Mehmed Pasha the Bosniak, who held office under Ahmed I in 1606
  • Koca Dervish Mehmed Pasha, who held office under Mehmed IV (1653-1654)
  • Moralı Dervish Mehmed Pasha, who held office under Abdülhamid I (1775-1777)
  • Burdurlu Dervish Mehmed Pasha, who held office under Mahmud II (1818-1820)
