4-2-2 steamtender locomotive s designed by James Holden for theGreat Eastern Railway .Overview
Constructed with oil-burning apparatus to speed the elite from the
City of London toCromer ,West Runton &Sheringham [(Rous-Marten 1902:272)] and capable of reachingNorth Walsham non-stop in just over two and a half hours. [Rous-Marten 1898b] They had 18 x 24 in. outside cylinders and 7ft. 6in. driving wheels. [(Fryer 1993)]Notes
