The film's theme in the first half was inspired from Mel Gibson's What Women Want. In Manmadhudu, Abhi installs spy microphones to watch his office staff. In What Women Want, Nick gets the ability to listen women's thoughts after a small accident.
In both films, the hero saves a woman in the office who tries to commit suicide. Nick tries on women's lipstick at home — Abhi does the same thing.
The film was appreciated for its slapstick comedy and Trivikram Srinivas's witty dailogues. The red sports car that Abhiram drives in the movie is a 1992 Nissan 300sx. This model was discontinued in 1994 and would have been an import. The movie has references to tehelka.com. The What Women Want story is just about 5 minutes and used as a slapstick scene.
Box office performance
- The film collected a share of nearly Rs. 15 crore in 75 days after its theatrical release.[1]
