Wyndham Childs

Major-General Sir Borlase Elward Wyndham Childs KCMG, KBE, CB (15 December 1876 – 27 November 1946), KCMG, KBE, CB was a British soldier and Assistant Commissioner of Police of the Metropolis 1921–1928.

Childs joined the Duke of Cornwall's Light Infantry in 1900 transferring as a captain to the Royal Irish Regiment in 1910. He was a Staff Capt in the War Office from 1911 to 1914. During World War I he was Deputy Assistant Adjutant General in the War Office 1914 was Assistant Adjutant General, General Headquarters, British Expeditionary Force 1914-1916; Assistant Adjutant General, War Office 1916. From 1916 tp 1919 he was Director of Personal Services, War Office and Deputy Adjutant General 1919-1921. Childs retired from the Army in 1922. Thereafter he was a police officer.
