Major-General Sir Borlase Elward Wyndham Childs
KCMG , KBE, CB (15 December 1876 –27 November 1946),KCMG , KBE, CB was a British soldier andAssistant Commissioner of Police of the Metropolis 1921–1928.Childs joined the Duke of Cornwall's Light Infantry in 1900 transferring as a captain to the
Royal Irish Regiment in 1910. He was a Staff Capt in theWar Office from 1911 to 1914. DuringWorld War I he was Deputy AssistantAdjutant General in the War Office 1914 was Assistant Adjutant General, General Headquarters,British Expeditionary Force 1914-1916; Assistant Adjutant General, War Office 1916. From 1916 tp 1919 he was Director of Personal Services, War Office and Deputy Adjutant General 1919-1921. Childs retired from the Army in 1922. Thereafter he was apolice officer .References
