1945 ) and Miriam (d.1989 ) Rawsthorne; he has two brothers, Paul and Christopher, and three sisters, Elizabeth, Ann, and Katherine. After attending at St. Joseph's College inUpholland , he was ordained to the priesthood on16 June 1962 by thenArchbishop of Liverpool ,John Carmel Heenan .Until
1965 Rawsthorne studiednatural science s, and was then assigned to pastoral work inWest Derby ,Croxteth ,Childwall , and Liverpool; he also worked in religious education.On
9 November 1981 , he appointed anauxiliary bishop of theArchdiocese of Liverpool andtitular bishop of "Rotdon".
