Emily Davis

Emily Davis is a character from "Life with Derek", played by Canadian actress Shadia Simmons. Life with Derek is a Canadian-produced show, which airs on Family in Canada, and on Disney Channel weekends in the U.S..

Character Description

Emily is the next door neighbor of Casey McDonald and Derek Venturi and has an obsessive crush on the latter. She is the best friend of Casey. She likes Casey very much, but sometimes Casey's lack of street-smarts makes Emily roll her eyes. Nonetheless, Emily is a friendly and a generally accepting person, although at times she has allowed her feelings of wanting to be popular interfere with her better judgment.Emily seems to show interest in the student body of her school, Sir John Sparrow Thompson. She keeps a notebook full of notes on the behavior of the students, and Casey usually turns to her when in need of advice on her boyfriend, Max (played by Robbie Amell.)At the third season she has a pretty 'dorky' boyfriend named Sheldon Shlepper (William Greenblatt) but they break up at the prom because his family moves to Newfoundland and Sheldon proposes to Emily to prevent that, and Emily of course declines.

*The actress who portrays Emily, Shadia Simmons, also starred alongside Michael Seater, who plays the character Derek Venturi, in "Strange Days at Blake Holsey High" as Corrine Baxter and Lucas Randall, respectively.
*She is nicknamed "Em" (given by Casey MacDonald).
*She and Derek are Casey's and Sam's third wheels, as they are the best friends of the couple.
*She has certain fluency in French, as she is able to understand Derek's bemusings, even though his accent, according to her, is "trés, trés" bad (very, very). However, in another episode, she cannot understand Casey's French.
