"Spit It Out" is the second single by American nu metal band Slipknot, released on September 4, 2000. It is the second single from the band's debut album, "Slipknot" and was written about people who attempted to impede, or otherwise plainly ignore the progress the band was making, as they sought a major label breakthrough.Fact|date=September 2008

Release and reception

There was a dispute over the release of this song as the band and album's first single. While deciding which track to release, guitarist Mick Thomson and percussionist Shawn Crahan were reportedly very enthusiastic about releasing "Surfacing" as the next single. However, after weeks of disputing and consideration, "Spit It Out" was chosen to be released instead.Fact|date=September 2008 The song reached number 28 in the UK Singles Chart. Music video

The music video for "Spit It Out" consists of cuts between a live performance of the song and a band parody of the 1980 horror film "The Shining", with Joey Jordison as Daniel Torrance, Shawn Crahan and Chris Fehn as the Grady twins, Corey Taylor as Jack Torrance, Mick Thomson as Lloyd the Bartender, Craig Jones as Dick Hallorann and James Root as Winifred Torrance. Paul Gray and Sid Wilson are also shown briefly between cuts.

"Zero Bullshit"

When playing the song live, the band often include something they refer to as the "Zero Bullshit", shown in the music video as well as on their 2002 video album "Disasterpieces". Near the end of the song there is a coda section where the music and singing builds up to a highly energetic section where vocalist Corey Taylor screams, "Fuck me, I'm all out of enemies!" repeatedly. Before this begins, he tells the audience to crouch down and to jump up when he shouts "Jump the fuck up!", which he replaces the line "good enough - had enough" with.
