radio station located inDenver, Colorado , broadcasting on 95.7 FM. KPTT airs arhythmic adult contemporary music format branded as "95.7 The Party".History
KPTT signed on in
1968 as MOR KMYR, which originally was at 95.5 before moving to its current signal in 1970. They would go through a succession of contemporary music formats as KHOW-FM (1975-76, 1980-83, and 1991-93), KXKX (1977-80), KPKE (1983-87) and KSYY (1987-91). By 1993 they would flip tosmooth jazz as KHIH (the format would later be picked up by KCKK 104.3 in November 2000).In November 2000 Clear Channel would flip the station to
Top 40 Mainstream as KFMD, "95.7 KISS-FM" giving the market its first regular Top 40 outlet since 1997. But after four years, their attempts at taking out bothrhythmic Top 40 KQKS andadult Top 40 KALC would work against them, resulting in KFMD flipping to KMGG, a Hispanic format in May 2005.KMGG was also one of 4 FM stations targeting the Mile High City's hispanic population, the other three being
KJMN ,KKCS andKXPK . But unlike the latter 3, KMGG was more focused on the bilingual-speaking second and third generation hispanics. They managed to take advantage of KQKS' decision to hold off on certainReggaeton and Hispanichip-hop tracks. On
September 18 ,2006 , KMGG flipped to KPTT, a Rhythmic Contemporary format targeting 25-49 females and began billing themselves as "95.7 The Party." The station also served as the Denver outlet forWhoopi Goldberg 's syndicated morning show [http://www.whoopi.com/splash, Retrieved on 2007/04/21.] , which was produced byPremiere Radio Networks , whose parent company also owns KPTT. The show was discontinued in 2008.KMGG-HD2
In July 2006 KMGG's HD2 subcarrier signed on with a format focusing on Spanish Oldies. In September 2006 they replaced the format with KMGG's previous
Hispanic rhythmic format. Currently, they carry "Pride Radio" on their HD2 channel, which airs upbeatdance music .References
