Hotel Missoni Kuwait

Hotel Missoni Kuwait is a luxury lifestyle hotel due to open in Kuwait's shopping and entertainment district of Salmiya at the beginning of 2009. It will be the very first of several properties of a joint venture between the Missoni fashion house and The Rezidor Hotel Group, and will be followed by a 136-room property in Edinburgh, Scotland in the second quarter of 2009. Despite various reports indicating that the Edinburgh property would open first, Rezidor has confirmed that they plan to open their Kuwaiti property as the chain's first.

The hotel's architects are Dino Georgiou & Partners, while the interior designer is Italian architect Matteo Thun in collaboration with Rosita Missoni. It is currently planned to be the only designer hotel in Kuwait and the first in the Middle East.

The hotel will form the centerpiece of the new Symphony Complex, a 35 million KD (130+ million USD) mixed-use complex incorporating the beige twenty-story hotel, a red twelve-story office tower, and a super-exclusive four-story shopping mall. The hotel will have a spectacular location on the famous Persian Gulf Road on the Salmiya seafront, while the office component will border Salem Al Mubarak Street to the rear of the project, across the street from the American University of Kuwait. Salmiya is world-renowned for its shopping, dining and entertainment venues, and the Hotel Missoni will offer its guests all of this through its excellent location.

Currently in the final stages of construction with interior works well underway, the hotel will include 207 luxuriously stylish guest rooms and suites with spectacular views of the Persian Gulf, a signature Missoni Cucina restaurant, a Mocha Missoni coffee bar, a Missoni Lounge (to be called Lounge of the Stars), a Six Senses Spa, a well-equipped fitness facility and an outdoor swimming pool overlooking the Gulf. Additional facilities will include several state-of-the-art conference rooms, as well as a spacious ballroom for large-scale events. All facilities will be decorated with Missoni's signature design elements, including lines, stripes, zig-zags and colors.

As of October 9, 2008, exterior construction of the hotel is complete. The scaffolding on the façade has been entirely removed, while the backside is fully finished. A steel spire and curving glass and steel sculpture are currently being added to the curvilinear top of the tower and will be completed before the end of the year. Work is proceeding on the pool deck on the podium, seen through the installation of steel and glass panels on the bar and spa buildings. Interior works, such as drywall construction and modeling works, along with mechanical and electrical installations commenced in May and are currently being worked on. The installation of finishings is planned to begin by December 2008 in preparation for the hotel's planned opening in the first quarter of 2009.
