Adherents.com

Adherents.com is a website that aims to collect and present information about religion including "churches, denominations, religious bodies, faith groups, tribes, cultures, movements, ultimate concerns, etc." As of July 2006, the site contains approximately 44,000 statistics on over 4,300 faith groups. The site offers its information sorted geographically, focusing on the size and location of religions.

According to the site, Adherents.com presents "data from both primary research sources such as government census reports, statistical sampling surveys and organizational reporting, as well as citations from secondary literature which mention adherent statistics." [quotation from the site] The site does not provide information about the full teachings of any religion.

Adherents.com is sometime cited as a reference for religious statistics in TV news and print newspapers. [ [http://www.adherents.com/misc/adh_in_news.html Adherents.com in the News] ]
