Al-Nabi Shayth

Al-Nabi Shayth

Al-Nabi Shayth is a village in the Bekaa Valley of Lebanon. "Al-Nabi Shayth" is an Arabic word, it means "Seth the prophet". The village was called by that name because it contains the burial site of Seth son of Adam. A mosque was built on the burial site and it contains the grave of Seth inside the mosque. The village is also the home town of Abbas al-Musawi former Hezbollah leader and influential muslim cleric.

The village of Al-Nabi Shayth is also known for predominantly being inhabited by people with the surname Chokr and Al-Musawi, both families being widely known Shi'a families in the Arab World that descend from the Islamic prophet Muhammad. Now the Chokr Family also have Sunni Muslim members living in the vicinity of the village, like in the nearby village of Kfar Zabad.
