The former Royal Air Force Station Nicosia, commonly known as RAF Nicosia, was a Royal Air Force airbase in Cyprus. RAF Nicosia was Headquarters Royal Air Force Cyprus from 8 June to 29 July 1941

Originally, it was the main princpal airport for Cyprus, being constructed in the 1930s as RAF Nicosia, and supported both civil and military aviation on the island. The RAF disestablished the station in 1966.

RAF Nicosia today

The airport is still owned by the UK MoD [ [http://www.publications.parliament.uk/pa/cm200405/cmhansrd/vo050119/text/50119w06.htm House of Commons Hansard Written Answers for 19 Jan 2005 (pt 6) ] ] , but is controlled by the United Nations Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus and is used by United Nations peace-keeping patrol helicopters.
