The Valencia-based company is the largest supermarket chain in Spain - although Carrefour is the largest food retailer - with stores on mainland Spain, the Balearic Islands and the Canary Islands. They also operate an online delivery service in selected areas.
Mercadona was ranked the 9th most reputable company in the world in 2009 by the Reputation Institute as listed in Forbes Magazine.[1]
Expansion
Even though Mercadona is expanding rapidly throughout Spain, the chain has yet to cross over internationally.
