Bates married Evelyn Turull of
Havana, Cuba . They had twins, Patricia and Evelyn, whom later on became models. Patricia Bates married hotel entrepreneurHoward B. Johnson ofHoward Johnson's hotels and restaurants. They had three children together:Howard ,Marissa andPatricia . Howard now has two sons (Howard Jr. and Nash), Marissa has three children (Tyler ,Paris , andBrittany Brock ) and Patricia has two children as well (Nolan and Bates Crawford)Ted Bates's principal

May 30 ,1972 , of a heart attack, which occurred while playing bridge with his friends. At the end of his life, he was a director and honorary chairman of the Ted Bates company, which ranked fifth in the world with annual billings of 425 million dollars(approximately 200 million dollars from United states accounts). In 1982, theAmerican Advertising Federation (AAF) elected Bates along withCharles Brower andBernice Fitz-Gibbon to theAdvertising Hall of Fame which is the most prestigious lifetime achievement award in the advertising industry.References
