- Babylon Branch
The Babylon Branch is a fully-electrified
rail service operated by theLong Island Rail Road in theU.S. state ofNew York . LIRR maps and schedules indicate that the Babylon Branch is the portion of theMontauk Branch from Valley Stream east to Babylon. Its west end is at the junction between theWest Hempstead Branch and Montauk Branch (Valley Interlocking ); the Montauk Branch from Valley Stream west to Jamaica is part of the West Hempstead Branch service. At the east end of the Babylon Branch, trains that continue are known asMontauk Branch trains; several of these use the Central Branch between Belmont Junction west of the Babylon station and a junction at Beth Interlocking on the Main Line southeast of the Bethpage Station, running toNew York City via the Main Line.
